Ask Mayo Clinic nurse line launches online symptom triage application

Ask Mayo Clinic is pleased to introduce a new online companion service to the telephonic nurse line. Ask Mayo Clinic online offers secure, web-based symptom assessment and health information 24/7 with the option to speak to a registered nurse. Ask Mayo Clinic gives members access to the same expert algorithms used by our nurses in the Mayo Clinic triage center, providing a level of clinical quality not offered by other online assessment services.

More than just a ‘symptom checker’ or online health information library, this self-service tool provides the user with a robust results report that indicates if and when to seek care, what his/her symptoms suggest, information about his or her unique situation, and detailed instructions for caring for yourself or loved one at home. If necessary, users may be prompted — and have the opportunity — to contact a registered nurse via phone. Any information the user has entered into the triage tool may be transferred to the nurse for review.

This approach to system assessment provides users with confidential, convenient access to timely health information in a time of need. This tool can increase compliance and drive more appropriate utilization of heath care services that drives cost-effectiveness and empowers consumers.
