  • Mayo Clinic InTouch, a cell phone application featuring content from MayoClinic.com and Mayo Clinic Medical Edge, continued to appear in the news in March, including High Tech Lounge, Popgadget.net, the Dallas Morning News, and the Northwest Airlines WorldTraveler magazine (page. 76).
  • The Robertson County Times (TN) mentioned the Mayo Clinic Women’s HealthSource’s article regarding suggestions for reducing bad cholesterol without medication.
  • FoxNews.com mentioned MayoClinic.com in an article about acne treatment.
  • ABC News mentioned information from MayoClinic.com regarding cancer recurrence in an article about Elizabeth Edwards’ announcement. During a morning news broadcast about this subject, CNN listed MayoClinic.com as the second best Web site for cancer information (American Cancer Society was first).
  • Kansas City Channel.com listed MayoClinic.com as the place to go for information on constipation.
  • The Cinncinnati Enquirer quoted Dr. Brent Bauer in an article about dietary supplements.
  • Forbes.com ran an article about the benefits of optimism, from an article they first saw in a Mayo Clinic newsletter.

February 2007

  • "Mayo Starts Cell-Phone Service for Health Tips, First-Aid Advice" from the Star-Tribune.
  • "Calculator Helps Users Gauge Heart Attack Risk" from HealthDay News features MayoClinic.com tool. Story was also picked up by The Washington Post, Forbes, MedicineNet.com, MyHeartCentral.com, BruneiDirect.com and Healthfinder.gov.
  • The Sun-Sentinel.com mentioned MayoClinic.com in an article about a girl who has had the hiccups for more than a month.
  • A February 19th article in the Los Angeles Times includes an interview with Dr. Brent Bauer regarding the Mayo Clinic Book of Alternative Medicine. The book was also featured in the Baltimore Sun, the Boston Globe, to name a couple. To date, the book has been featured in 81 media placements for an estimated total of 132 million media impressions, plus the estimated 605 million media impressions from the January 16th satellite media tour. Dr. Brent Bauer, Dr. Larry Bergstrom, and Dr. Amit Sood did the bulk of these interviews.

  • To date, the Mayo Clinic Book of Alternative Medicine, has been featured in major and regional news outlets for a total of 22.3 million media impressions, with more expected in the coming weeks. Here are a few highlights: Wall Street Journal, Arizona Republic, Atlanta Journal Constitution, Denver Post, Detroit Free Press, Courier-Journal, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Tennessean, KMOX Radio (CBS St. Louis), WSYR Radio (ABC Syracuse, NY). A January satellite media tour resulted in 10 television stations airing interviews with Dr. Brent Bauer., the book's medical editor-in-chief, reaching a combined audience of 605 million.
