Mayo Clinic EmbodyHealth Portal:
User Personalization

A Personalized Health Portal

Mayo Clinic EmbodyHealth incorporates tools and techniques to build ongoing, regular utilization and increase opportunities for reducing health risks and meeting health goals. A comprehensive personalization strategy and an integrated incentive system effectively engage your people with the portal.

By design, Mayo Clinic EmbodyHealth creates a dynamic relationship in which a user's experience becomes more personalized with each use.

Mayo Clinic Health Assessment data, registration information and personal health interests all drive a highly personalized more relevant experience for users. For example, users receive appropriate health screening reminders 30 days prior to their birthday — based on gender and age. Your people are encouraged to further personalize the portal by using the My Tools sidebar to set health goals and track activities.

Health Assessment Results Drive Personalization

Completion of the Mayo Clinic Health Assessment on Mayo Clinic EmbodyHealth triggers a cascade of customizations for the user, to help them focus on their unique health risks and current conditions.

Upon completion of the Health Assessment, a user's strengths and risks are highlighted with appropriate messages within portlets on the homepage. Call-out messages in these portlets remind users of their current status (for example, how much exercise they reported getting or how much produce they're eating — and the recommended level).

Health Assessment results also drive which articles appear within home page portlets based on the current status of a user. For example, users who show strength in an area such as fitness will see articles to keep them motivated, while users who are at risk in the fitness area will see articles on how to start making a change.

When users report the diagnosis of certain conditions, a "My Conditions" tab appears on the home page along with disease management portlets for those conditions.

If a user’s Health Assessment indicates risk for blood pressure, blood sugar, weight or a personal medical history of asthma, diabetes, headache or high blood pressure, the Mayo Clinic Health Monitor tool used for tracking vital information on their condition will also be featured on the home page.

Users also receive personalized information and guidance from interactive tools within Mayo Clinic EmbodyHealth such as the Symptom Checker, healthy lifestyle programs and Treatment Decision Guides.

This high level of interaction and personalization on Mayo Clinic EmbodyHealth creates an engaging experience for users. More importantly, it provides them with real-time access to tools and information best suited to help them reach their health goals.
