Mayo Clinic Lifestyle Coaching:
Overview

One-on-One Telephonic Health Interventions for
Healthy Behavior Change

Three health-damaging behaviors — tobacco use, lack of physical activity and poor eating habits — are responsible for the onset of chronic illness and early death of millions of Americans. Although chronic diseases are among the most common and costly of all health problems, they are also among the most preventable.

Lifestyle coaching is a proactive approach for those who are ready to make the necessary changes to improve their health. These phone-based counseling programs help your people understand the impact of lifestyle choices on their health and the benefits of change.

Our counselors work one-on-one with program participants, empowering them to make long-term healthy changes by building self-efficacy and skills they can use long past the end of the program.

Lifestyle coaching is available in five behavior change modules, which can be purchased as a package or individually:

  • Mayo Clinic Exercise Advisor
  • Mayo Clinic Nutrition Advisor
  • Mayo Clinic Healthy Weight Advisor
  • Mayo Clinic Stress Advisor
  • Mayo Clinic Tobacco Quitline

Goals of the lifestyle coaching programs include:

  • Manage costs by promoting prevention and early intervention
  • Build skills to change behavior and sustain it
  • Improve participant’s quality of life
  • Provide education and support to make lifestyle changes that reduce health risks
