Experienced registered nurses provide symptom triage by answering employee or member questions, and offer reliable health information to help people make better informed health care decisions and facilitate more appropriate utilization of employee health care resources.

Ask Mayo Clinic online is now available for secure, web-based symptom assessment 24/7, and is powered by the same triage algorithms used by the telephonic nurse line. More than just a ‘symptom checker’ or online health information library, this self-service tool leverages technology to reach individuals that prefer the ease of access and anonymity offered by an electronic environment, and features:

  • Assessment for 44 common symptoms and ailments, currently covering 32% of all nurse line calls
  • Secure, barrier-free user access (no registration required)
  • A printable conclusion pages that tells users what health conditions their symptoms suggest, if and when to seek care, and home care instructions (if applicable)
  • Help for users that need it via transfer to telephonic nurse

This multi-modal, self-service option aims to attract multiple population segments to increase utilization and drive cost-effectiveness for organizations and individuals.

Ask Mayo Clinic online is for anyone 18 months and older who is not pregnant. When an algorithm is not available OR not allowed based on demographics, users will be prompted to call the nurse line.
